Gone Fishing Café is a small and hidden neighbourhood café tucked away in Hillview area. It’s a quiet and cozy place to hang around in. It offers a great alternative for those who want to relax and chill out in an unhurried manner. Turns out that all their dishes and drinks are fabulous, we almost wanted to order another plate of roast chicken! Definite must trys are the roast chicken and almond coffee! ^-^

Happened to come across a review of this cafe on a magazine. What attracted me was its unique name & decor. Since its located close to my place at Sunset Way, Clementi area, me & dear decided to give this little cafe a visit. Nestled within the serenity of the HDB heartland, the location is charming in a uniquely Singaporean way.

After some research, I realise that Peaberries – coffee beans that grow alone in a single cherry – were once considered a defect, a deformed bean. Now, these small round beans are highly prized, and are sometimes even called the “caviar” of coffee. Well, we did ordered a simple Mocha, but it came with a splendid presentation.

Although the interior is notably small, the liberal use of mirrors provides the illusion of space. I love the brown & pink setting, with the tasteful use of floral motifs on the window & lamps. What I also like about it was the glass dessert cabinet and the open kitchen concept where you can view the chef preparing dessert.

The menu has a distinct German influence, as they serve pork knuckles & sausages. We ordered Grilled Sausages with saurkraut & Mushroom Pasta. The first dish offered 4 different type of sausages to try with saurkraut, basically sour vegetables. Well, I would only say that the main courses are pretty decent on the whole, but definitely better with the desserts…

Make sure you leave some space for desserts or you are bound to regret it. Sculpted like dainty pieces of art, the selection of desserts is not limited to the menu but includes distinctive creations displayed in their specially designed cooler. We love the Soufflé! It was spongy and frothy, emphasizing heavily on the egg taste with bits of caramel wedged in between. Nice and sweet and a perfect end to a rather heavy meal.

Although their main course is a little pricey, their desserts and coffee are truly worth the trip. Think I must pop by another time to try it tiramisu!

Paisley & Cream is a quaint little cafe sitting in a corner of The Central, it looks lovely & cozy… The first time I walked past it, I was attracted to the nice décor and unique name, but it was closed that day. I made it a point to re-visit it the next time I’m at Central. Well, it turns out that the café sells ‘beautiful’ cupcakes! Stepping inside the café, u will definitely spot photos of old Hollywood on the walls and a dazzling chandelier.

Well, I was attracted by the pretty sweet things in the showcase… cupcakes! I picked this(1st photo at the top) – vanilla cupcake, paired with mocha cappuccino. The presentation is really lovely. As for the cake, it was slightly on the dry side though.

The only reason why the café is not very crowded is due to its location. It’s a little hard to spot. So for those who need directions, it is next to the river, by the side of Coleman Bridge.
